My name is
Cathy Joynt Labath and I am responsible for Palo Alto County, Iowa. My
father was born in Emmetsburg, Palo Alto County, Iowa. His father was born there
also and his grandparents settled there after immigrating from Beagh Parish,
County Galway, Ireland. His great grandfather never made it as far as
Emmetsburg. He died somewhere around the Dyersville, Iowa area. Although I was
not born and raised in Emmetsburg, I spent plenty of summers on my grandparents'
farm (now a century farm or a farm that has been in the family for over 100
years) playing and enjoying the small town way of life where it seemed anyone of
Irish descent was a cousin of mine.
