The Octogenarian Club of Clare- "The 80 Club"
Motto- "You are only as old as you feel. We are 80 years young."
This club is composed of members of St. Matthew's Parish who are 80 or over.


Mrs. Margaret McCabe. Eighty-eight years of age. Born May 1, 1847. Mother of
12 children. Came to Webster County in 1876.

Mrs. Thos. Donahoe. Eighty-eight years of age. Born June 25, 1847. Came to
Webster County in 1856.

Mrs. Thos. Loftus. Eighty-eight years of age. Born July 12, 1847. Came to
Manson in 1880. Mother of 6 children.

Mr. John T. Hood. Eighty-six years of age. Born Dec. 29, 1849. Came to
Webster County in 1869. Father of 12 children.

Mrs. Will Burke- 82 years of age. Born in January, 1853. Maiden name Mary
Rail. Motehr of 9 children (7 living, 2 dead). Mr. Burke died June 6, 1927,
88 years. Came to Webster County in 1856.

Mr. Thos. Dolan- 83 years of age. Born Oct. 12, 1852. Caem to Clare in
April, 1889 (46 years ago) Father of 12 children. Mr. and Mrs. T. Dolan
oldest living couple in Clare. Married 62 years ago.

Mr. Thos. P. Fitzgerald- 83 years of age. Born March 8, 1852. One of 16
children. Son of Mr and Mrs Dan Fitzgerald. (His mother's maiden name was
Katherine Franklin). Came to this community in 1871. Mrs. T.P. Fitzgerald
(Bridget McCabe) is dead. Mother of 12 children. Mr. Thos. P. Fitzgerald
died, Sunday, june 23, 1935. Buried from St. Matthew's Church, Wed., June
26.

Mr. J.D. Moore- 83 years of age. Born Feb. 10, 1852. Came to Clare in 1886.
Built the first Church in Clare and he was the supervising contractor for
the present church, built in 1905. Came to Calhoun County in 1867.

Mrs. Thos. Dolan- 82 years of age. Born Feb. 2, 1853. Came to Clare in April
1889. Mother of 7 sons and 5 daughters.

Mrs. Kate Hanrahan- 81 years of age. Born May 11, 1854. (Catherine Collins).
Came to Webster County in fall of 1869.

Mr. Pat H. Cain- 80 years of age. Born March 25, 1855. Father of 11
children. Came to Webster County in 1862. Only 600 people in Fort Dodge at
that time.

Mr. Frank Griffin- 81 years of age. Born April 20, 1854, in Lowell, Mass.
Father of 2 children. Came to this territory about 60 years ago.

Mrs. J.S. Casey- 80 years of age. Born May 5, 1855. (Mary E. Fitzgerald)
Died Wednesday, May 22, 1935. Buried from St. Matthew's Church on Sat., May
25.

Mrs. John Lex (Gertrude)- 82 years of age. Born Aug. 26, 1853, in Germany
(at Thier on the Rhine River.) Mother of 10 children.

Mrs. Joseph Francois- 80 years of age. Mother of 6 children, 5 living now.
Born Dec. 14, 1855, in Urnitz near Bresleau in Germany. Her maiden name was
mary Seifert. Mr. Francois (deceased) was born in Wisconsin. Married in
Nebraska, Mrs. Francois caem to Nebraska  from Germany at age of 21. Came to
Webster County in 1917.
