In this year of 1935 the Freshmen held honors
as the largest Class ever in St. Matthews School.
There were eighteen members in the beginning of
the year  but one boy moved to Chicago, which left
seventeen pupils, However they still hold their
record.
     The Class officers are, Mary C. Cunningham Pres., Robert Drushella-Vice Pres, and Joseph Meyers-
Sec. and Tres.
     Latin, Algebra, Science, English and Religion
are the subjects carried.

Dedication and Tribute

     We, the Freshmen of 1935, in order to show
our appreciation of the benefits and interest
shown to us by our teachers from primary
days to the present, wish to dedicate this book.
     We have been the recipient of lessons taught
by loving hearts, whose minds are consecrated
to the service of God.
     Our teachers have been: Sister M. Rose, the deceased Sister M. Augustine, Sister M. Benedict, Sister M. Concepta, Sister M. Grace, Sister M.
Joseph, Sister M. Bertile and Mr. Aval Jaegar.
     We have also been intrusted and shown good
example by the Rev. Father McEvoy and the Rev.
Father Parle.

Rain is orchid coin, the sunlight-gold,
And leaves on plant and vine are currency,

There is the rose perfume that roses hold,
And all the wealth of our magnolia tree
Where ivory blossoms hang exotically
Aladdin treasures that each day infold.

We plant a rose and it bears dividends,
While violets we gather, multiply;
We pay our tithe to Heaven and make amends
As best we can in words, with which we try.
